Sleepover fun - Becca's 10th Birthday
These were taken on our vacation. More photos can be viewed on facebook. We had such an amazing time. When Steve and I were trying to plan our vacation doors kept closing. We originally tried to go to Florida but it was to expensive. We got quite frustrated toward the end because nothing seemed to be happening. About two weeks before we called a friend who had offered her parents place to us a while ago. It is in Michigan, right on a lake. We called and asked her if it was still possible and it was! We ended up going to 10 days and it was just what we needed. There were kayaks and lots of beach to play on. When we needed to get out the sun there was a huge flat screen TV and endless channels. We went to the botanical gardens and the mall and mini golf. It was great. My mom was able to join us for three of the days before she had to fly home which was very special. All in all we had a great break! Check out some more photos on facebook...if I can get the technology right.

It's spring anf time for the park!

Some news
Spring is on the way, and as you can imagine we are very excited and we have had a few days that have been mild and the parks and streets have been flooded with runners and families enjoying what is to come. Cade is experiencing the park for the first time and absolutely loves the swing! The girls are also chomping at the bit for summer and have been jump roping and roller blading whenever possible. Becca just finished state testing and has done well. She is tired though and is really ready for the spring break. She has had a tough year mentally, very demanding but has thrived and exceeded all expectations. Her teacher raves about her work and manner in the class. We are really proud of her.
As some as you know from past emails, we had an interview with a language academy in a neighborhood close by to see if the girls would be accepted. It is what we call a magnet school. It is run by the Chicago Public School board but you have to apply to get in. We know one of the teachers very well and we sent the girls applications in two weeks ago. We were not expecting to hear anything for ages. A guy Steve knows has been trying to get his girls in for four years with no luck. Anyway, we received a call last week saying that they wanted to interview the girls. We went on Monday last week and were so happy with what we saw. It’s focus is very much on culture and the arts as well as offering 5 different languages of which the children choose one. It has a wonderful atmosphere of family and fun. The kids were so friendly and inviting. The girls were introduced to their prospective classes and it helped them see that it was not going to be too bad being new again. They left there pumped and ready to transfer and I am glad because ........ GOOD NEWS.......THEY GOT IN!!! We heard yesterday and rejoiced!
We are really excited and proud of them as they have worked really hard to keep their grades up and I know that this is God's blessing. They are very excited but sad to leave their good friends. But they have the friendship to keep it going.
Hannah has also had a wonderful year and has really come in to herself. She has surprised me with her sense of humor and love for life! She is so positive about everything and gets excited about everything! She is a total bookworm and walks around the house with her nose in a book. She is doing well at ballet and is sooooooo tall. She is also slimming out significantly and losing her baby padding. She has legs up to her armpits!! She is a stunner.
Little Cade….my smooshy! He is just the cutest little guy. We love him so much. He reminds me of me and mommy, you will be happy to know that he hates being alone…just like I was! He is extremely social and loves to be with people. In fact he smiles and gets excited when we pass children on the street. I have people stopping me in the street asking why he is so happy. He loves his family especially the girls. He greets them both with a huge open mouth kiss each time he sees them. He does not do that to either Steve or me. He adores them.
Steve is doing well and working really hard, we both are. It is a busy time for us until the summer. We have just had a couple through the church to train us which is always an intense time and we have another couple coming in April for a week so that will also be intense. But they are such good times and it always leaves the church encouraged and ready to go! Steve has a new look. After I do not know how many years he is going to a hair dresser and she has brought some style, instead of the straight military style I was cutting. He is clean shaven and looking smooth! He looks similar to when I married him!!!
I hope that this catches you all up to date on some of the happenings in the Sudworth Household. We miss you all.
