I sent an email out earlier today to somae friends to update them on some news. I thought that I would post it for y'all to read.
We are well here, I am a bit worn out from nursing sick children. Cade had a cold a few weeks ago, got over it, passed it on to the girls who were sick for about a week and then passed it back to him. He has really struggled to shake it and is so uncomfortable. I feel like a snot ball! I have been up to my eyeballs in mucus! Sorry to be so graphic. Anyway, there have been no complications and it is just a bad cold. The weather has been dreadful. We are in the middle of a snow storm and there must be about 7 inches of snow outside. Our street has not been plowed so it is tricky getting in and out on errands. Steve had to help out two ladies today who are in their seventies in our church. They could not get their car out and they were going to try and shovel it away which is really strenuous. He went over there and shoveled for them. I think that he has lost 5 pounds this week shoveling! The girls are well though. Becca is on a field trip today and Hannah has taken valentines to all her friends at school. We celebrated her birthday with a tea party on the weekend which was a great success. Can you believe our girls are 9 and 8? Man, time flies. The last photo is of the girls baking for the birthday party. We had such fun making all sorts of things like animal cupcakes. They were a great help.
Other than struggling with winter colds, we are really well. Steve and I and Cade had the privilege of listening to Rob Rufus for 5 days two weeks ago. He did a Lead Elders training time away and it was awesome. He has such an amazing revelation on grace. It has stirred us both and this last Sunday Steve preached an amazing preach on his revelation on grace which has branched off of Rob’s teaching. It was so rich and you could almost hear the church eating it up. Church was really full on Sunday as well which is always amazing.
I am well although struggling as well with my health. I feel like the germs are just floating around the house multiplying. There is not much we can do because it is really cold outside and we can’t get fresh air. Cade and I have been stuck inside for a while because it is so nasty. We went to church tough and that was really nice. After worship ended on Sunday, no one moved, they all wanted to worship more so I shouted from the front…”lets do some more!”. Something broke after that and the church rejoiced in praise!! It was wonderful and there was a sense of freedom. Steve had just preached on how as Christians we have been set free from the master of sin and it has no hold on us. People embraced it and it showed in the worship afterwards.
My mom is coming again in July and we are really excited about it. I am so eager to see how Cade responds to her and to see their relationship bloom into something unique. My step brother has just had his first so there is another boy in the family. His name is James Donald Burger. He was only 6 pounds(2.4 kgs) but healthy. SO far it has been a good experience and they are all doing well.
Some scary news is that shortly after the birth of her grandson, my step mum Fern was held up at gun point in their home. Ortelia, their house keeper of many years, went out of the electric gate to take the trash out. They were waiting for her and forced her inside. Fern came up the hallway to make a phone call and walked right into them. They took her through to the bedroom and went through all their stuff. They took her jewellery and my Dad’s cash and travelers checks. They umed and aahed about taking the Merc!!!!!! They had the keys and decided that they did not need it!!!!!!!!! Can you believe it?? My dad recons that they were professionals who were after specific things. He is so ready to leave JHB. He was going to wait another 2 years or so before going to Knysa to his home he has just built on the island there, but now he is going to hand over his company a lot quicker and leave in about a year. He was so shaken poor guy and Fern really took some strain.
They were fine though and I thank God that He protected them.
Well, there is our news for now.
